The Stinky Swamp

Hayden had an assignment at school to make a habitat. He chose to make the swamp. While he was off track, he told me that it was due the day he came back to school. So being the on top of it kind of mom....(yea we waited until the day before) we made this swamp. It was in a clear box, made from sand and Knox jello tinted brownish green filled with alligators and frogs. So Monday morning he proudly took it to school. When he came home he told me, oh here mom, our habitats weren't due for three more weeks. So good for us, we did it early.... right? well the next week he came home with his box, covered in what looked like a hazmat bag. Well the jello had molded and his teacher and fellow students couldn't take the smell anymore and sent it home. So Hayden and I got the lucky of job of cleaning it out, rescuing the alligators and other creatures and remaking it. It only took a day or so for the second one to start to smell, but hey what is a swamp with out the stinky smell!

These are pictures of the habitat fair which we got to come and see all of the wonderful creations everyone made.... including the stinky, smelly swamp.

That swamp was so funny. Hayden kept telling everyone they couldn't open it or it would stink up the whole school. :)
